Water all over the country has frequently been positive for lead, cysts, and PFOA/PFOS, and our area is not exempt. These chemicals have been found to exceed the levels set forth by health advisory organizations and may cause health problems.

We are continually monitoring communities in our service area with this contaminant.

These chemicals have been found to exceed the levels set forth by health advisory organizations and may cause health problems.

Eighteen million Americans live in communities where the water systems are in violation of the law. As a matter of fact, the federal agency in charge of making sure those systems are safe not only knows these issues exist, they’ve done little to stop them according to information provided by CNN which cites multiple sources and water experts.

Our goal is not to scare anyone into getting water treatment, however, educating our local community about water quality is a top priority. We’ve worked with many local families to improve their water and to provide peace of mind knowing the water they drink and bathe in is free of harmful contaminants.

We don’t believe in fear tactics, however, educating our local community about water quality is a top priority. If you don’t know, you can’t respond. We’ve worked with many local families to improve their water and to provide peace-of-mind, knowing the water they drink and bathe in is free of harmful contaminants.

What are PFAS, PFOA, PFOS and What’s The Difference Between Them?
In a nutshell, PFAS stands for per- and polyflouralkyl substances, which are synthetic chemicals used to make everyday products we all use (your cell phone, your non-stick pans, some food packaging, most things that used to be made at 3M are made of PFAS). PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid, also referred to as C8) and PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonate) are simply two types of PFAS, and the difference between the two is the amount of carbon atoms in the chain of polyflouralkyl. GenX is also considered a PFAS contaminant.

These chemicals have been around for almost 80 years, when they started being manufactured in the 1940’s. Unfortunately, a lot of chemical waste ends up being dumped in the water supply we drink from. Imagine 80 years of chemical waste contaminating the water we use every day.

The Water Quality Association (WQA.org) tells us exposure to PFAS can happen when we eat food grown in soil contaminated by PFAS or drink water that has been contaminated and not properly filtered out. It can also be released through the household products we use to clean our homes.

Some potential health risks of PFAS exposure are cancer, a weakened immune system, fertility issues, low birth weight for infants, abnormal levels for cholesterol and thyroid hormones, and inflammation of the liver. There may be potential health risks of PFAS exposure and they are continually under research.

How Can I Know I Have Safe Drinking Water?

If you want to know if the water in your area is affected by PFAS contamination, check out the EWG PFAS map below of known areas affected in the United States.

Our Solution:
PFOA and PFOS chemicals are bio-permanent, resistant to direct oxidation, and do not break down naturally in the environment or the human body. We were EcoWater customers in a different state (outside of... CA). When we purchased our system (EcoWater water softening and Reverse Osmosis RO system) through the Costco program a couple years ago we were told we could move the system if we ever moved. We recently relocated on SoCal and called the local EcoWater dealer (EcoWater SoCal). We loved our original EcoWater team from our old home and were worried the new team wouldn't be able to fill their shoe. Boy, we were more than pleasantly surprised!! 🙂 The whole team from start to finish has been AWESOME!!(1) INITIAL SERVICE TEAM: Marissa M. reached out in response to our initial call and explained how the overall process would work to get our system installed in our SoCal home. She was great about answering all our questions, was super knowledgeable, and provided clear pricing and quotes.(2) SALES TEAM: Through Marissa we got our installation date on the calendar. Coincidentally, a few days before our install date, we happen to notice an EcoWater branded car parked in front of our neighbor's home. I walked up and was able to chat with Mitch M. (from EcoWater) after his sales call with my neighbor. He was kind enough to come to our garage and look at our kitchen set up so scout out the project in advance. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. It was clear he did more than sales because of his knowledge base. He was also kind enough to offer to look in their computer system to see who was the technician that would be coming to do the install so that he could give them the heads up on our home. He happen to be back in the neighborhood the same day of the install and even stopped by to check in. SO AWESOME!TECH TEAM: Evan P. was our main technician and he was AWESOME. He was super patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. His teammate Jason H. was also super skilled and friendly too. They were both great about explaining the whole installation process. The best part of the team was their professionalism, very positive attitude and solution orientation. They were also very customer-focused. Because they had to shut off the main water for a while, they were also so considerate and made sure they kept working so that they were able to get to a stopping point so the water could be turned back on before they went on an overdue/belated quick lunch break. How awesome was that??! Because each home is different and has its quirks, Evan and Jason were both awesome about working around our plumbing setup and unique layout of our home.We cannot say enough about this AWESOME, AWESOME team. Whoever owns this company clearly hires for professional and super friendly people. Wish we could give them more than 5 Stars...we'd give them 10 STARS if we could!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!! Will be telling friends and family in the area all about them!! THANK YOU ECOWATER SOCAL TEAM!!!read more

I noticed that my water was still not yet "soft" after... multiple months of seeing hard water spots over my reflective surfaces in my home. Jordan Tallmadge came out to our home, and he was super patient and actually did more than I expected him to do. He even opened up my water refiner unit and inspected everything and took it apart and did a full rebuild. He found a faulty O-ring and replaced it with better ones. He took his time, never felt rushed, and even added on an alkaline filter to our RO system. Most importantly, he was really friendly the whole time and I really felt like he wanted to make sure our issues were resolved. You can tell he cares. I hope to get Jordan again when we have our next service!read more

We’ve been a Ecowater water softener owner for couple years... now and everyone seems very professional and helpful. But by far Kyle Keehr was the most spectacular explaining how to do what we need to with instructions so clear that honestly a toddler could perform them. He took the time to listen to our needs, gave straight to the point, clear, and simple instructions. Saved money and time thanks to you Kyle, and thank you Ecowater for employing amazing people.read more

We ordered a water softener and RO system through Costco.... They were professional throughout the entire process, from the initial visit/quotation to the installation (Carlos did an excellent job). Admittedly the system may have been on the more expensive side, but I would rather take the extended Costco warranty and a quality product then pay less for a unit from a "quick sticker company". I would use them again for my next house.read more
